Refresher courses mandatory to keep trainers abreast with latest techniques: Alok Kumar

JAMMU, Feb 10: Refresher Courses, training programmes or you may call them orientation courses are compulsory for keeping trainers, coaches, teachers and preachers abreast with latest skills and techniques of various games and sports. For gaining wisdom and keeping updated with the latest know-how of various games in order to perform their jobs in a befitting manner, it is must to involve the field staff of the Department of Youth Services and Sports in such courses.
It was stated by the Principal Secretary to Government, Youth Services and Sports Department while e-launching an impressive training programme of field staff (PETs, PEMS, REKs) at Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, here today.
The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Director Youth Services and Sports, Gazanfar Ali and a galaxy of officers of the Department.
A total of 764 trainers drawn from 186 zones (4 from each zone) of Srinagar, Jammu and Pulwama districts will be taking part in this month-long Refresher Course, who will be imparted training in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Sqay, Fencing, Archery and Hockey/Soft Tennis by a panel of experts mostly from the Department. The venues selected for training programme include Jammu, Srinagar and Pulwama.
The expert panel of resource persons included Atul Pangotra, Virander Singh and Gursharan (Taekwondo), Ujjwal Gupta and Shefali Gupta (Fencing), Pankaj Spolia and Sanjay Khajuria (Sqay), Vishal Malhotra and Indu Bhushan (Soft Tennis).
Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kumar said such programmes are essential for helping trainers gain knowledge wisdom and advised the Directorate to make it an annual feature.
He was all praise for Director Sports for involving good number of trainers and trainees in this programme.
Earlier, Joint Director YSS (K), Bashir Ahmed presented detailed report of the programme and highlighted achievements of the Department. District Youth Services and Sports Officers Jammu and Pulwama also spoke on the occasion.
Later, Director Youth Services and Sports, Gazanfar Ali presented vote thanks.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Mohammad Yousuf Dar, official of the Department.
