REASI, June 9: In a significant step towards promoting a drug-free society, the District Police Reasi organised a Night Cricket Tournament at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Stadium under the banner of the ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyan’.
The initiative aims to channelize the energy of youth towards sports and constructive activities while spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, sports lovers and members of the local community, reflecting strong public support for the campaign.
The event was inaugurated by the Superintendent of Police, Katra, in the presence of SDPO Katra, SHO Katra, prominent citizens and a large gathering of youth. The programme began with the National Anthem, highlighting unity, discipline and patriotism.
SP Katra stressed the importance of sports in shaping character, building discipline and steering youth away from substance abuse. He reaffirmed the commitment of Reasi Police towards organising sports events and awareness drives to promote a healthy and drug-free society.
The opening match was played between Police XI Reasi and Muskan NGO Cricket Club Katra. Batting first, Police XI Reasi scored 193 runs, while the opposition managed 148 runs, resulting in a 45-run victory for Police XI Reasi. The SHO Reasi was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
