RDD disburses Rs 110 crore in 5 days under PMAY (G)

JAMMU, June 18: Committed to reach out to the rural public, the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, J&K has disbursed a whopping sum of more than Rs 110 Crore and 85 lakh to PMAY (G) beneficiaries within a span of just 5 days which has been transferred directly into their accounts.
The payment that has been transferred electronically into the accounts of around 20,000 beneficiaries of rural housing scheme is aimed to pump money into the rural economy in view of the lockdown imposed to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
The first installment of payment amounting to Rs 5298.50 lakh has been disbursed among 10,597 beneficiaries, the 2nd installment of Rs 1407.50 lakh has been credited into the account of 3294 beneficiaries while the third and the last installment has been received by 1955 beneficiaries. Furthermore, around Rs38 crore has been disbursed to clear the liabilities of the last year.
Imperative to mention here that under PMAY (G), each beneficiary gets Rs 1.30 lakh to build a house in addition to 95 days of wage employment under MGNREGA to construct the house and Rs 12000 under SBM (G) for the construction of a toilet unit. Besides, the house is also sanctioned piped water facility, electricity supply and LPG connection in convergence with other schemes.
The beneficiaries of the rural housing scheme are selected according to data taken from the socio-economic and caste census (SECC) data, 2011.
