KATHUA, Apr 24: In collaboration with Reserve Bank of India, Jammu branch, Government Degree College Hiranagar organized a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme with the objective of creating awareness about the different financial aspects among the faculty and the students.
Satya Narain, General Manager RBI, Jammu, was chief guest while Prof Tilak Raj Sharma, Principal of the College presided over the programme, which was organized by IQAC of the college. The resource persons included Anil Kumar Reshi and B B S Venugopal, Manager and Asstt Manager RBI, Jammu , respectively.
Satya Narain threw light on the multi-dimensional role of the RBI in the country including the regulation of functioning of the commercial and non-commercial banks and also supplementing the economic growth of the country. He assured all help to the college students in future as well through collaborative programmes.
Anil Kumar Reshi dwelt at length on the different aspects of financial literacy during his lecture and made it easy for the participants to understand the nitty- gritty of the topic. A power point presentation was given by B B S Venugopal on the adoption of safeguards for digital transactions.
A quiz programme was conducted as a follow-up exercise in which faculty as well as students participated. The winners were awarded on the occasion.
Prof Tilak Raj Sharma, Principal of the college, emphasized on the need for such exercises in institutions of higher learning , the benefits of which reach to the society.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof P Bambroo, Coordinator of the IQAC, deliberated on the essence of financial literacy programme and the benefits that would accrue to the participants from such an academic exercise, besides enriching the academic milieu of the institution.
