JAMMU, Apr 5: A national seminar on “Convergence – the Modern Mantra for promotion of Sanskrit and its Relevance in the Present Times”, was organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, an “A” Grade Deemed University under MHRD, Govt of India, here today at its Shri Ranbir Campus, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
In the inaugural session, Prof  Posh Charak, Member, J&K Public Service Commission, and former HoD  English, University of Jammu, was the chief guest  while Dr Vinod Kumar Gupta, renowned literary personality and former faculty of the Campus, was the guest of honour.
In the valedictory session, Dr Rajendra Mishra, Associate Professor, JU  Business School,  was the chief guest  and  Dr  Seema Kaushik, Assistant Professor, Laxmibai College, University of Delhi, was the guest of honour, whereas  P C  Mahapatra, Head of the Department of Modern Subjects, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Ved Vyas Campus, Balahar, Himachal Pradesh, was the special guest.
Both the Sessions were presided over by Prof  Ramanuja Devanathan, Principal of the Jammu Campus.
In her keynote address, Prof  Posh Charak said that various branches of learning should converge their knowledge resources so as to further the horizons of the knowledge for the better future of mankind.
Dr Vinod Kumar Gupta said we must have different kinds of skills to be able to meet the present day needs of awareness.
Dr  Rajendra Mishra and  Dr Seema Kaushik made power point presentations.
P C  Mahapatra said that for the promotion of Sanskrit,  the students of Sanskrit must develop their translation skills and take their knowledge at the world stage.
In his presidential address, Prof  Ramanuja Devanathan said that it was  very important to let the world know about the achievements of Sanskrit and Sanskrit scholars. In this regard, translation can play a very crucial role, he added.
