Rakshinda, Vishal selected for World Deaf Judo C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 7:  Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory’s Rakshinda Mehak and Vishal Khajuria were among six members team of Judo who have been selected by All India Sports Council of Deaf (AISCD) for upcoming First World Deaf Judo Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Versailles France from October 27 to 30.
These players have been selected in weight categories including 78 kg and 66 kg respectively during selection trials of Indian Deaf Judo at Emerald Heights International School Indore, hosted by Madhya Pradesh Deaf Sports Society (MPDSS) yesterday.
The other members of the team including Divya Tiwari (UP), Nirchara (HR), Aman Khan (UP) and Sumit Soni (Pb) will participate in the championship in weight categories including 48 kg, 53 kg, 60 kg and 73 kg respectively.
The AISCD invited the deaf Judokas from all States and UTs of India on the basis of their previous national championships performance wherein four men and two women Judokas from J&K Sports Association of Deaf (JKSAD) participated on the basis of previous national deaf sports championship-2019, held  at Chennai (Tamil Nadu). The ASICD also invited their coach Suraj Bhan Singh, Senior Judo coach of J&K Sports Council MA Stadium Jammu as selector as well as Technical Official of the selection committee.
The selection committee selected a six member team including three men and three women in different weight groups on their performance basis who stood first in their respective weight category.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul and Secretary JKSAD Gulshan Drabu appreciated the performance of Judokas including Rakhshinda Mehak and Vishal Khajuria and their coach Suraj Bhan Singh for their performances.
