JAMMU, July 24: J&K Sports Power Lifting Association today organized a State level power lifting championship (Men and Women) for the upcoming senior-national power lifting championship to be held at Milanee Hall Jamshedpur (Tatanagar) from September 7 to 11.
More than 150 participants took part in the championship. Rakesh Kumar was declared as Powerman whereas Surmeet Kour Soni was declared as Powerwomen of the State.
Rajan Jain, general secretary of JKSPLA was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jammu. Both the dignitaries presented medals and trophies to the power lifters.
In Men’s category:- Tarlok Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Azim Sheikh, Shubham Aryan, Vinay Pagotra, Vishal Singh Rakwal, Sandeep, Amandeep, Narinder Pal Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Dinesh Singh, Imran Mirza, Jagbir Singh, Raza Rabbani, Vickramjeet Singh and Faisal Paul won gold medals whereas Saksham Bamotra, Abhishek Sharma, Vikas Singh, Nageshwar, Abhishek, Aditya, Manraj and Amarjeet Singh won silver medals. Sagar, Arjun Singh, Shiv Charan Singh, Vikramdeep, Akash Pratap and Pranabh Singh won bronze medals.
In Women’s category:- Surmeet Kour Soni, Achint Kour, Neha, Suman Devi and Sonia won gold medals whereas Priyanka Sharma, Sunita Devi and Dally Devi won silver medals.
