Rain lashes Srinagar, Gulmarg, other parts of Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Incessant rain on Monday evening lashed the summer capital, Srinagar, world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other parts of Kashmir valley, resulting in considerable dip in the day temperature.

A Met department spokesperson said that scattered light rain and thundershowers would occur during the next 48 hours in Kashmir valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is active in the region. “The weather will slightly improve Wednesday,” he said.

However, he said a fresh WD, which originated from the Arabian Sea and is approaching through Afghanistan and Pakistan, will hit the region on Thursday.

He said a weather warning has been issued for Thursday and Friday, when thundershowers and lightning with gusty winds would occur at isolated places in the valley under the influence of the WD. (AGENCIES)
