JAMMU, Dec 17: Former Union minister and PCC president Prof Saifuddin Soz has said that Rail development in J&K sate was extremely sluggish and the construction of Railway line between Udhampur and Qazigund was not keeping pace with the commitment made by the Ministry of Railways for its completion.
In a press statement issued here today, PCC chief said that progress on the project was very slow. He sought the intervention at the higher level. He pointed out that within Jammu province, the Railway line has not moved to Poonch, Rajouri and Doda.
Soz further said that the survey in respect of line, between Jammu and Rajouri -Poonch was stated to be faulty and no further development has taken place. Despite heavy traffic of civilians and military movement, the Railway ministry is dragging its feet and not undertaking the works, he maintained.
He further said that in Kashmir valley, the Railway line has not moved to Uri and Kupwara. The Ministry has to take urgent measures in this direction, he added.
