JAMMU, Mar 3: The State Board of School Education (BOSE) has detected that Physics question paper of 12th Class, scheduled to be held on February 28 but was postponed the preceding night due to reports of paper leakage, has been done in advance in a house at RS Pura by at least six students with the connivance of Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, RS Pura and at least two teachers. Involvement of some more persons could figure in the scam.
BOSE Secretary, Dr Renu Goswami today lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in the scam with RS Pura police station against the paper leakage and involvement of the staff seeking detailed investigations into the case to unravel the mystery behind the leakage.
Official sources told the Excelsior that the question papers of BOSE were being leaked for past quite sometimes now but quick action taken by the State Board led to seizure of all six answer sheets written a day ahead of February 28 Physics paper.
Sources said the examination centre in question was No. 264 at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. Getting an information that the paper has been leaked and written by the students, Dr (Mrs) Goswami set up a high level departmental team of the BOSE, which raided a house and seized six answer sheets with the help of local police, headed by SHO RS Pura police station Inspector Surinder Khadyal.
The answer sheets carried the Serial Numbers of 96251, 96252, 96253, 96254, 96255 and 96276.
After writing the answer sheets of Physics question paper on February 27 (a day ahead of the paper), the students had deposited them to the middlemen. The sheets were found in an almirah of office chamber of Principal Babu Ram of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, RS Pura.
Investigations have revealed that two invigilators Raman Kumar and Sneh Bhagat had connived and inter-changed their duties within the school premises.
Sources said police have detained Raman Kumar.
Police said all six students, who had written the answer sheets a day ahead of the question paper have been identified as they had written their Roll Nos. on the back of answer sheets with pencil. They were likely to be arrested soon.
Police and BOSE authorities were trying to ascertain the exam centre from where the paper was leaked. Though the answer sheets were written in RS Pura, authorities feel that the question paper had been leaked somewhere else as the question paper set of RS Pura hadn’t been dispatched a day in advance.
“The paper was leaked somewhere else. There would be more beneficiaries of the paper leakage,” sources said.
Worthwhile to mention here that question papers of 12th class, scheduled for February 28, had been put on WhatsApp by some persons and it had almost reached everywhere. The BOSE authorities acted promptly and immediately cancelled the paper.
Sources said the leakage of question paper was part of a bigger racket but it has been detected well before the start of exams. The BOSE authorities have promised the students that every possible measure would now be taken to maintain sanctity and secrecy of the exams.
The BOSE authorities have sought question papers back from all sub offices to check where the question papers were leaked. The BOSE would be sending question paper at 142 examination centre in Jammu in the morning.
