JAMMU, Aug 26: The quarterfinal position has been cleared in the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Competition, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the first match of men’s section, GDC Udhampur beat GDC Akhnoor by (3-0). Rohit Pal Singh beat Mukesh Sharma by (11-3, 11-3),
Ankit Sharma outplayed Aman Sharma by (11-1, 11-2) and Aakashdeep beat Arun Sharma by (11-4, 11-5).
In 2nd match, GGM Science College got better of GDC Ram Nagar by (3-0), Shubham Kumar beat Rampal by 7-11, 13-11, 11-9, Aman Dubey trounced Ravinder Singh by 11-7, 11-4 and Anish Mishra outclassed Ajesh Jamwal by 11-3, 11-0, while in 3rd match, MBS College prevailed over GDC Kathua by (3-1). Jayesh Singh got better of Narinder Singh by 11-7, 11-3, Gurkeerat Singh drubbed Dalbir Singh by 4-1, 11-9, 11-7, Gurleen Singh lost to Navdeep Singh by 11-13, 10-12 and Jayesh Singh beat Dalbeer Singh by 11-1, 11-6.
In another match GMC Jammu beat GDC Paloura by (3- 2). Tanveer lost to Kaushik by 11-13, 11-7, 11-13, Pranav beat Sanjay by 12-14, 11-8, 12-10,
Siddhant lost to Dig Viajyu by 4-11, 5-1, Tanveer drubbed Sanjay by 11-7, 11-7 and Pranav beat Kaushik by 11-7, 11-8, while in the 5th match, MAM College beat SRS College by (3- 2). Irfan Hussain lost to Jatinder Pal Singh 1-11, 4-11, Anjum Rashid beat Ramandeep Singh 11-2, 11-8, Farooq Ahmad lost to Bhavneet Singh 4-11, 6-11, Anjum Rashid beat Jatinder Pal Singh 11-4, 11-5 and Irfan Hussain beat Ramandeep Singh 11-3, 11-4.
ASCOM defeated GDC Hiranagar by (3-0). Tapan Sharma beat Sahil 12-14, 11-3, 11-3, Amit Anand prevailed over Sanjay Dutt 11-6, 11-3 and Shubham Pandoh beat Bhawani Singh by 11-7, 4-11, 11-5 and in the last match in boys section, PG Department beat MIET by (3-1). Shubham lost to Nitin by 9-11, 1-11, Aayush beat Puneet by 11-5, 11-2, Arun beat Akshay Singh by 11-7, 11-13, 11-3 and Shubham beat Puneet 11-6, 11-5.
Meanwhile, in women’s section, GGM Science College beat The Law School by (3-1). Tsering Angmo lost to Harneet Kour 2-11, 4-11, Tundup Palmo beat Bhuvenshwari Bali 11-5, 11-7, Rigzin Charol got better of Digvi 11-2, 11-6 and Tundup Palmo defeated Harneet Kour 11-8, 11-4.
The quarterfinal matches in men’s section will be played at 10 am tomorrow, while the same in women’s section will be played at 1 pm tomorrow.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Amit Sharma and Sandeep Khadotra, while the tournament was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu under the supervision of Director, Prof Dhian S Bhau.
