JAMMU, Apr 16: Reacting strongly against the waving of Pakistani flag by separatist Masrat Alam during anti-India rally in Srinagar, the State unit of BJP demanded immediate arrest of separatists Masrat Alam and Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
BJP State chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi, while addressing media persons at party headquarters along with State spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, said, “it’s a matter of serious concern that such anti-national activities took place in the State and it is totally against the interests of the Nation and people of the State”. “As far as BJP is concerned, our stand is clear on this incident that Party at no cost will tolerate such anti-national activities. Our Central and State leadership has taken serious note of the happenings and strong message has also been given to coalition partner that an immediate action against Masrat Alam and separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani be taken and they both be arrested”, he added.
Sunil Sethi also criticized the local administration and police authorities for allowing such rally in Srinagar. “Who gave permission to organize such rally and when Pakistani flags were openly waving and anti-India slogans had been raised, why police authorities did not take action against Masrat Alam and his supporters participating in the rally”, he asked, adding, “it raised many questions”.
‘Sethi said that BJP at the Centre and in the State is committed for safeguarding the interests of the Nation and people of the State and this type of activities can not be tolerated by the Party as such acts will disturb the normalcy of the State, which will not be tolerated at any cost’, he said, adding, “Masrat Alam is threat for national interests and he should be arrested forthwith”. “We will not be satisfied by mere registering FIR under Unlawful Activities”, he added
Sethi said, ‘Union Home Ministry too has taken stand and strong message has been conveyed to State Government to take immediate action against the separatist leaders’.
