Public cooperation imperative for achieving developmental goals: Kohli

RAJOURI, June 14: Seeking greater public participation for strengthening the developmental initiatives, the Minister for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli today said public cooperation is imperative for translating Government’s commitment to provide responsive and transparent governance into reality.
The Minister said this while addressing a public meeting at Kalalkass here.
He said regular interactions with the public provide the requisite feedback regarding implementation of schemes and welfare programmes on the ground. Kohli reiterated the Government’s commitment to provide transparent and accountable administration.
The Minister asked people to come forward and play active role in day to day governance of the state, adding that strengthening of democratic set up is essential for well being of people and also for all round development of the state.
He asked the people to keep a vigil on the development works under execution in their respective areas so that quality parameters are ensured.
On the occasion, locals projected various demands and problems of their respective areas which mainly pertained to drinking water, road connectivity, electricity, installation of hand pumps and adequate teaching staff besides upgradation of school infrastructure. They also demanded expediting pace of developmental works.
The Minister listened to the grievances of the people and issued on spot directions to the concerned departments to initiate necessary steps required for ensuring early redressal of the problems. He said it is endeavor of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority, adding that a well conceived plan has been devised to address all the issues in a phased manner.  Provision for better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors for the Government, the Minister added.
Assuring the people that he will continue to work for inclusive development of the area, Minister said that main thrust would be on completion of developmental works so that their benefits reach the people I time-bound manner.
He also directed for identifying suitable patch of land for taking up construction of community hall at Kalalkass.
