SRINAGAR, Mar 6: Peoples Republican Party(PRP) has expressed grave concern over the encroachment of State land by land mafia in various parts of J&K.
In a meeting here today held under the chairmanship of PRP president, Mir Ghulam Rasool an appeal was made to Governor N N Vohra asking him to act against the land mafia and restore thousands kanals of State and forest land encroached by them.
Mir said it is high time for the Government to restore this land as there will be no political pressure as politicians can’t influence to that extent which otherwise they could do in political government. Mir said thousands kanals of Forest and State land has been encroached over the years by land mafia in connivance with politicians and Revenue officials with the result squeezing the pastures for grazing cattle and sheep.
He said this has been cause of concern for the people who are dependent for their livelihood on milk industry. The meeting among others was also addressed by G M Trambo advocate, G A Hamdarad and Mr War the senior leaders of the Party and they decided to extend their all cooperation and support to administration in removing the encroachments from State and forest land. They said the activities of land mafia increased during the turmoil period and Government failed to control them.
The PRP demanded fool proof security to such officials so that they can launch the drive successfully.
