JAMMU, Mar 1: Refugee Sadar Sabha (J&K) has expressed that it has high hopes from high level MHA team deputed by Amit Shah, Union Home Minister to look into the issues of PoJK refugees and all other displaced persons of Chhamb and other places.
In an emergent meeting held under the Chairmanship of Kewal Krishan Sharma, Chairman at Chandan Vihar Muthi today, it was demanded immediate allotment of land to the landless / land deficient refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 & WP refugees. The Sabha appealed to the Lt. Governor and MHA team that while framing regularization policy in J&K, the land retrieved from illegal big encroachers and it may kindly be allotted to the landless/ land deficient refugee families as per the scale fixed by the government i.e 4 acre/family irrigated and 6 acre/family non-irrigated.
Sharma said Refugee Sabha is grateful to the Modi led Union Govt for 1st installment of Rs 5.50 lakhs which has already been released. For immediate relief, the Sabha demanded pending Rs 24.50 lakhs package at the earliest. The Sabha demanded from the high level team of MHA deputed by Amit Shah which is visiting J&K for three days upto March 2 to take issues of PoJK refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 camp/ non- camp and Chhamb refugees etc. on priority basis.
The Members of Refugee Sadar Sabha alleged that with a deep conspiracy the previous Govts didn’t allot prescribed scale of land (4 acre/family irrigated and 6 acre/ family non-irrigated) to the landless / land deficient refugees because big chunks of land was grabbed by the big fish in J&K.
Sabha has high hopes from Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and high level MHA team deputed by Amit Shah for immediate allotment of land to the landless / land deficient refugees without any further delay, he added.
The other demands which were discussed in the meeting were reservation to the wards of refugees in education and government jobs, 8 Assembly seats for POJK and DP’s and issuance of unique ID Cards to all refugees mentioning their status of land including financial package.
Prominent among those who were present in the meeting included Rajiv Sharma, Deepak Sudan, Dheeraj Sharma, Bharat Bhushan and others.
