SAMBA, May 13: A peaceful protest was held here today at main bazaar of Vijaypur against local MLA of Vijaypur Assembly segment, for his worst attitude towards the common masses.
The protest was led by senior Congress leader and ex-Minister, Manjit Singh and senior PDP leader, Dr Harmesh Singh Slathia.
Addressing the protesting people, Manjit Singh said that the police officers deployed in the police stations in the jurisdiction of Vijaypur Assembly segment have totally failed to maintain the law and order in the area due to which the activities of hazard group of vested interested people, land grabbers and goons have increased in the area day by day.
“The crimes like theft, kidnapping and illegal business of toxic chemical and drugs is flourishing in the area while as the aggrieved people are depriving off from getting justice. Whenever the aggrieved knock the doors of justice before the Police Administration, they have to face the rude behaviour of police officers, who instead of taking action against the culprits, harass them by involving them in false and frivolous cases”, the Congress leader maintained.
He further alleged that the police officers have openly exposed in various cases that the directions have been issued to them by the local MLA in this regard. The rude behaviour and conduct of the administrative officers of district Samba have created aggression among the mass of Vijaypur Assembly segment which may take the shape of violence if the biased officers are not replaced with the honest and dedicated officers, he warned.
Dr Slathia, who is also the chairperson of Lions Club Vijaypur, accusing the local MLA for harassing the members of club during its meeting conducted at Thandi Khui on last Saturday, by sending the SHO Vijaypur along with a police party, who forcibly apprehended them by leveling false allegations.
