Protest held against GMC authorities for not keeping body in mortuary

JAMMU, June 10: Family members of a youth, whose semi-decomposed body was recovered last evening from Bathindi area, today held a protest against authorities of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for not keeping the body in mortuary room of the hospital.
The semi-decomposed dead body of an 18-year old youth namely Mohd Asif Malik son of Shamsdin, resident of Bagga, tehsil Mahore, district Reasi, who had went missing few days back, was recovered last evening under mysterious circumstances from his own car in Bathindi area of city outskirts after which the police shifted the body of the youth to Government Medical College and Hospital for keeping in mortuary.

But alleging that the body of Asif was decomposed further due to the negligence of the hospital staff who instead of shifting the body to mortuary room, kept it in mini-mortuary, which is without freezing facility, the family members this morning held a protest against hospital authorities demanding legal action.
The family members also submitted a written complaint against Hospital authorities to SHO, police station Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Naresh Sharma, who assured them that the appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused hospital staff after proper investigation.
On the assurance of the SHO, the family members got pacified after which the postmortem of the body was conducted and the same was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
