Rajouri, Feb 23: People of old Thanamandi town and adjoining areas held protest against the PDD authorities as department failed to restore power supply even after 15 days in the area.
The people of the area came out on the road in the town and held protest demonstration creating temporary blockade on the road. They alleged that about 15 days back, an electric transformer got damaged but department failed to lift the said transformer and provide the another one or get the same repaired. Later, SDPO Thanamandi Surjit Kumar reached there and told the agitating villagers to take up the issue with the concerned officials.
The villagers alleged that field staff of the department asked villagers to lift the transformer and carry up to road side. The villagers today collected the money and engaged labourers to carry transformer up to the road. But it could not be replaced even till this evening.
