UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: Continuing its offensive against drug peddling, Udhampur Police today attached immovable and movable property worth Rs 70 lakh belonging to a notorious narcotic smuggler besides apprehending three drug peddlers.
According to Police, the attached property, including a residential house on Khasra No. 1227 and Innova Car bearing registration number PB07AQ-0249, belonged to Anil Kumar, son of Mool Raj Sharma, resident of Jhib Fantyal, District Udhampur.
The property was attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act in case FIR No. 223/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Rehambal.
The Investigating Officer having reasonable grounds to believe that these assets were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking has attached the same under the due process of law. The total value of the attached properties is approximately Rs 70 lakh.
The accused is presently lodged in District Jail Ambphalla, Jammu under the provisions of the PIT NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police apprehended three drug peddlers; two from Chenani and one from Round Domail.
Police party of Police Station Chenani, during naka checking at Motor Shed, Chenani, stopped one truck bearing registration number PB02EQ- 7567 coming from Srinagar side towards Udhampur. During checking of the said vehicle, 5.375 kg of poppy straw was recovered from cabin of the truck.
The accused driver was identified as Sata Masih son of Hadet Masih of Village Chandu Suja, Tehsil Batala, District Amritsar (Punjab). He was arrested on the spot.
Another drug peddler was arrested with Charas by Police at Champeri, Chenani during routine patrolling. On questioning, the accused disclosed his identity as Tarlochan Dutt, son of Hans Raj, resident of Samroli, Tehsil and District Udhampur. 60.82 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
Another drug peddler was arrested by Udhampur Police at Roun Domail. During his personal search, police recovered 5.88 grams of heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Hans Raj, resident of Sounthan, Udhampur.
