Srinagar, June 8: Sopore Police today attached properties worth more than Rs 66 lakh belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the NDPS Act.
Police said the attached properties belong to Zahoor Ahmad Shah of Hanfia Colony, Arampora, Sopore, and Manzoor Ahmad Baba of Magraypora, Sopore.
Shah, as per the police, is involved in FIR No. 143/2015 of Police Station Sopore and FIR No. 24/2023 of Police Station Tarzoo under the NDPS Act, while Baba is named in FIR No. 184/2023 of Police Station Sopore.
During financial investigations, police identified assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking and found them disproportionate to the known sources of income of the accused.
Acting under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, police issued freezing and attachment orders pending forfeiture proceedings before the competent authority.
The attached assets include a residential house, bathroom block, fenced land measuring 13 marlas and a scooty belonging to Shah, collectively valued at Rs 40.82 lakh.
Properties attached in Baba’s case include a residential house at Magraypora and land measuring one kanal and six marlas along with a plinth and construction material at Hathlangoo, valued at Rs 25.73 lakh.
