UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla and Prashant Kumar Jha OSD to Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Dr. Jitendra Singh today chaired a joint meeting with the officers/executing agencies/contractors associated with Devika Project and reviewed the latest progress of pollution abatement of river Devika and Tawi project under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
At the outset, Chief Engineer UEED, Jammu Ashwani Anand gave a brief about the progress of ongoing development works of Devika project. He informed that an amount of Rs. 186.74 crore has been sanctioned for this prestigious project and the construction works is divided into three zones and sewerage pipeline to be laid is 124.22 km in the Udhampur town. He informed that work is going on at different sites simultaneously and this project will be completed by January 2021.
While reviewing the work wise progress of the pollution abatement of Rivers Devika and Tawi project under NRCP, Chief Engineer UEED was asked to set up institutional mechanism for restoration of sites where sewage pipe is laid. Contractors were asked to go for advance planning and development of ghats.
DDC emphasized for advance planning for men, machinery and material and asked to ensure sufficient material is available in the onsite store. Executing agency was asked to start the work for beautification of ghats and also stressed to complete the work on ghats by June 2020. After meeting, the team visited Devika ghat to take stock of ongoing development works.
Later, DDC along with OSD visited Chak Rakhwalan Panchayat to monitor the project Jeevika.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, President MC Udhampur Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, ACR, Viqar Giri, SE UEED, X-En UEED, DIO, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia and other officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
