SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today moved a privilege motion in the Legislative Council against the Power Minister for providing “false and misleading” information to the House in response to the questions.
PDP legislator Naeem Akhtar said the reply given to my question about the details of amount sanctioned and released for the relief and rehabilitation of affected villages of Kishen Ganga Hydel Project in the Bandipora district by the Government and National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC).
“The NHPC has released Rs 64.91 crore to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora,” the Minister has replied.
Akhtar, however, said the Minister incharge has given a false and baseless reply to his query.
“I moved a privilege motion against the Minister in-charge of Power for providing completely false and misleading answer to my question.” Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is himself holding the Power Ministry portfolio.
To another query about the names of affected villages, the reply states that village Kralpora and Chack of Tehsil Bandipora, Wanpora and Khandiyal of Tehsil Gurez have been affected partially and village Badwan and Khopri of Tehsil Gurez have been affected fully.
On whether there have been reports of bungling, misconduct, corruption and poor progress, the Government has replied in “Yes Sir” only.
The PDP spokesman has asked whether any inquiry has been initiated at the recommendation of CBI to probe bungling in land compensation for the Kishen Ganga Hydel Project, the reply reads a preliminary enquiry has been registered by CBI on 8-5-2013. “No comments have been received from CBI regarding outcome of preliminary enquiry by Power Development Department,” the reply reads.
However, Akhtar alleged the answer was “completely false” as the Government had received a report from the CBI on June 18, 2014.
Akhtar gave a copy of the CBI report, submitted to Secretary of General Administration Department, to the Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra and moved a privilege motion against the CM.
