Prez, vice-President, PM pay tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniv

NEW DELHI, Jan 28:
President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on  his birth anniversary on Sunday.
Tributes to the great freedom fighter Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary, wrote the President on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Mr Naidu saluted the Freedom Fighter saying, ”Popularly known by the twin monikers of “Sher-e-Punjab” and “Punjab Kesari”, #LalaLajpatRai was born on 28 January 1865 in undivided Punjab.”
Mr Modi also conveyed his greetings on the occasion.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also remembered Punjab Kesari.”My heartfelt tribute & salutations to “Punjab Kesari”, Lala Lajpat Rai ji on his birth anniversary. His unmatched courage and sacrifice for country’s freedom struggle constantly guide us even today towards nation building,” he tweeted.
”Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai left an indelible mark on India’s history. We remember him as a righteous and courageous leader who dedicated himself towards India’s freedom. Tributes to him on his birth anniversary,” said the Congress.
Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remembered the great patriot saying, ”Lala Lajpat Rai ji’s tremendous contribution in India’s freedom movement. Lalaji was a  man of exemplary courage and great values.
He was also the chief architect of India’s Swadeshi  Movement.  I bow to him on his birth anniversary today.”
”My humble tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. He played a prominent role in the Freedom movement and was a fierce patriot who died fighting for the country’s Independence,” wrote Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal while paying his tributes. (UNI)
