JAMMU, Jan 4: Students of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu brought laurels for the J&K State by clinching third prize in the Poster Presentation in the 21st National Children Science Congress held at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh recently.
The focal theme of the congress this year was “Energy- Explore, Harness & Conserve”. This year students from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and UAE also participated along with the students from all the States and Union territories of the country.
A total of 664 science projects including 16 projects from J&K State were presented by the child scientists of age group 10-17 years.
Arushima Pankaj led a team consisting of three other members namely Vagmi Kapoor, Avantika Singh and Aditi Handa of class 8th of Presentation Convent, Jammu and presented a project on the “Feasibility Study of Hybrid Optic Fibre Lighting System in School Building”.
She received third prize under the category of Best Poster Presentation.
Prof Yashpal along with many other noted scientists from all over the country mentored these students during the programme. Dr BP Singh, Head, National Council of Science and Technology Communication (Govt of India) was the chief guest, while Er Anuj Sinha, Chairperson NCSTC Network, New Delhi, was the guest of honour. Prof PK Verma, Director General of MP Council of Science and Technology and Advisor, Govt of Madhya Pradesh, presided over the programme.
