Poppy cultivation destroyed in Kulgam

Srinagar, June 5: Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district today started a drive against poppy straw and destroyed its cultivation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Shafiq Ahmad said that the drive was started today and the poppy straw spread over dozens of kanals of land in Bonigam, Awgaam, Sangus, Poniwa, Laroo and Kanipora villages of the Kulgam district was destroyed.
He said the drive would continue in coming days also and asked people to cooperate with police and provide it with information about the cultivation of the poppy straw.
