RAJOURI, Nov 15: With an aim to tighten noose against people involved in violation of traffic rules and regulations, which also act as a factor of road accidents claiming precious lives, Rajouri police today started a major drive and on the first day, nine cases have been registered under relevant sections of law besides arrest of drivers and seizure of vehicles.
The decision to launch this major drive was taken in a recent meeting convened by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Yougal Manhas. During the meeting, Addl SP Rajouri Mohd Yousuf was directed to personally monitor the action taken by the field officials in this drive. Addl SP Nowshera, Master Popsy was also directed to supervise the drive in the area of his jurisdiction.
On the first day of this drive, Budhal Police Station team led by SHO, SI Jahanger Ahmed under the supervision of DySP OPs Rajouri registered a case FIR 67/2017 U/S 336 RPC and Sections of Motor Vehicles Act against driver of a canter/ bus no JK20 6921. Vehicles was found heavily over-loaded with passengers endangering their lives. Driver booked has been identified as Mohd Ashraf, son of Gulzar Ahmed, resident of Bagga, Mahore.
Similarly, a team of Kandi Police Station under the supervision of DySP Operations Rajouri, Sukhdev Singh booked drivers of two vehicles for overloading and registered cases under relevant sections against the accused drivers.
Rajouri Police team headed by SHO Ajay Chib under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Jaswant Singh registered three cases against different vehicles.
Cases in FIR 513/2017, 514/2017 and 515/2017 under 336 RPC and 39/192 Motor Vehicles Act, have been booked against the drivers of the vehicles. These vehicles include one matador and two auto- rikshaws.
Manjakote police team headed by SHO Mohd Iqbal registered case in FIR 102/2017 U/S 279,336, 39/192 MV Act and booked driver, Dil Pazir, son of Dil Hussain, resident of Kalali, Manjakote after minibus JK02G/ 2147 was found overloaded.
Dharamsal police team headed by SHO Romal Singh registered two cases in FIR Nos 90/2017 and 91/2017 U/S 279, 336 RPC for over-loading in vehicles.
Besides, a number of vehicles have been challaned also for violation of norms.
