Statehood demand echoes in Intellectuals Forum seminar

JAMMU, Oct 4: Maintaining that abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A was the viable solution to Kashmir crisis, RSS leader and Director Delhi University, Prof (Dr) Geeta Singh today said that every problem has a solution and when a solution is found there can be some pain but it is short lived.
Dr Geeta who was the chief guest at a seminar organized by Intellectual Forum here, today on the topic New Dispensation of J&K said that some times surgery is performed to treat a patient suffering from chronic diseases and it gives pain for some days but later the patient is relieved of the problem for ever.
Prof Singh was referring to some restrictions imposed in the State after abrogation of Article 370 and 35 -A. She said on August 5 this year not only J&K got liberated but every Indian feels that he got liberated as J&K has been fully merged with Union of India. She said it was a big problem and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi took a historical decision to solve it. She said every nationalist Indian’s feelings were hurt with `Ragdo -Ragdo ‘movement and dishonouring of National Flag by some anti nationals in Valley who had taken the entire nation to ransom.
Addressing the seminar Inderjit Khajuria Chairman Jammu All Jammu Hotel and Lodges Association and a prominent citizen highly praised the daring decision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who showed wit in abrogating the controversial articles and liberated Jammu from clutches of Kashmiri rulers. Khajuria said Jammu suffered lot of discrimination in last 70 years through the hands of Kashmiri leadership. However he advocated for separate Statehood demand to Jammu which was also supported by other panelists.
Khajuria expressed concern that the projects of Jammu like Cable Car, Mubarak Mandi and Jammu General Bus Stand are in limbo and the Government is not taking pains in completing them. The 95 percent funds share is going to Kashmir while Jammu gets a meager of it.
Haji Shak Mohammed a Muslim leader from Surinsar area said August 5 was a historical day for J&K. He expressed concern over failure of successive Governments in development of Mansar Surinsar lakes which have no less scenic beauty than Dal Lake of Srinagar. He said new hope has emerged for J&K after abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 and some big guns shops in Kashmir have been closed which may lead to restoration of peace and normalcy there.
Dr Kuldeep Sharma convener of the Forum said the rights of Jammu people will not be usurped under new arrangement. He said the seminar was organised to allay the fears of the people of Jammu that they will lose jobs and land as the same will be snatched by outsiders and no outsider will come here to contest the elections. He said a memorandum was handed over Dr Geeta Singh to be presented to Union Government.
The programme was conducted by RC Sharma, general secretary of the Forum, while vote of thanks was proposed president All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association. V K Katal chairman NGO also spoke on the occasion while the welcome address was read by Prof Jugal Mahajan who read the memorandum.
