Photo exhibition on Kashmir temples, shrines concludes

JAMMU, Nov 28: The two-day event on Kashmiri Temples and Shrines Photo Exhibition, which was jointly organized by Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee, Temples and Shrines Management Board and Save Temples of Kashmir Movement concluded at Kala Kendra, here today.
The photo exhibition on ancient temples and Shrines of Kashmir was inaugurated by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta along with Member Legislative Council Surinder Ambardar and Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Ashram. Over 300 still photographs of ancient shrines and temples were displayed in the photo exhibition showcasing the rich cultural and religious history of Kashmir valley.
Talking to media persons, Mr Gupta said that there are different schemes with both State and Central Governments for renovation and preservation of ancient monuments and the temples of Kashmir and promised to take up the issue of preservation of these temples with the Union Cultural Ministry and State Tourism Department.
Surinder Ambardar said that the land of Kashmir has given birth to many sages and saints and Kashmir was a seat of learning from times immemorial. He said the need of the hour is to revive the ancient glory of Kashmir by preserving the age old temples and restoring them to past glory.
On the concluding day of the photo exhibition the Minister of Culture & Finance, Haseeb Drabu was the chief guest during the intellectuals meet. He said that Kashmiri culture has to be preserved at any cost and added that Govt is fully committed to preserve the sanctity and beautification of temples & shrines in Kashmir valley. He requested all the Legislators of Kashmir to help in renovation of temples and shrines by sanctioning some part of their Constituency Development Fund.
Anil Dhar NC leader, Sheela Handoo Ex-Corporator, Bharat Bushan Bhat, BL Jalali and MK Bangroo were also present.
