JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Oct 2: The members of All J&K PHE ITI Trained, CP Workers and Land Donors Association as a part of their ongoing agitation held strong protest near Press Club Jammu today while their counter parts in Srinagar warned to suspend water supply in Kashmir of their issue was not solved with in a week.
The PHE daily wagers who are on strike for the last more than 25 days, assembled near Press Club Jammu and held massive protest demonstration. The protest was led by Tanveer Hussain, president of the Association. It was attended by hundreds of workers besides divisional/district presidents and general secretaries and Central Committee members.
Addressing the workers rally Tanveer Hussain said they have given so many ultimatums to the Government but nothing has been done for them regarding their pending wages of last 48 months. He said that workers are being denied their wages and their families are starving but department is not serious towards their issues. He said that now when we are left with no option other than “Kaam Chod Hartal” our department and government will be responsible for any inconvenience to the public.

Tanveer alleged that Government failed to keep its promise of releasing salary on recent festivals. He said that Government should immediately release all the pending wages of the daily wagers without any delay. He said during announcement of SRO it was assured that proper wages head will be formed and daily wagers will get regular salaries without any delay but it was just an eye wash. He said that Chief Engineer PHE Jammu today on behalf of Chief Secretary has assured to resolve their issue before October 10 and if they failed in doing so, the protesting PHE, ITI trained /CP workers would march to Srinagar in buses on Oct 15 along with their families to conduct` Gherao of Secretariat.
Prominent among others who accompanied included Deepak Gupta, Subhash Rakwal, Bhanu Partap, Sanjeev Thakur, Jeevan Singh, Balbir Jasmeria, Govind Kumar, Parveen Ahmed, Pawan Kumar, Dhani Ram, Sohan Choudhary, Manjeet Singh and others.
Meanwhile, PHE daily wagers today threatened to shut water supply to the Kashmir valley if authorities fail to release their pending wages.
The protesting employee said the daily wagers have not been provided salaries for the last 21 months and that has affected their families. “The daily wagers are without salaries for last twenty-one months and it has affected our families as it’s our only source of income available,” a protester said, adding they have been demanding the release of their salaries and regularization of their services for last several years but no body listens.
Under the banner of Kashmir Joint Employees Association scores of employees along with their families gathered at Partap Park here. The protestors raised slogans and were carrying placards seeking the release of their pending salaries. They said the delay in salaries has affected the education of their children. “We are unable to pay the tuition fee of our children. We fear for their future. If the authorities continue to delay our salaries we will be forced to take them out of schools,” a protestor, said.
Meanwhile, the protestors demanded effective implementation of SRO 520 that would ensure the timely release of their salaries and regularization of service.
