MENDHAR, July 15: People of various villages today held a protest near Tehsil complex, Mendhar, against the concerned authorities for neglecting poor families while framing lists of beneficiaries of free LPG connections.
A large number of people today assembled near Tehsil complex, Mendhar and raised slogans against the concerned authorities. They alleged that lists of beneficiaries of free LPG connections in HP Gas and Bharat Gas agencies at Mendhar, did not figure genuine people. They said that many Government employees and well off people have managed to get their names entered in these lists while poor and genuine BPL families have been ignored.
The protesting people further alleged that ignorant villagers are being charged by these agencies for applying to get benefit of this free LPG connection scheme initiated by Government of India. They demanded that the free LPG connection be provided to the people on the basis of 2011 BPL census.
When contacted, SDM Mendhar, Sher Singh, said that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
