People protest, block road over rising cases of thefts

UDHAMPUR, Sept 11: People from Krimchi and Mansar areas held protest against rising cases of thefts in their areas.
The locals including traders assembled at Krimchi and held protest. They burnt the tyres and also blocked the vehicular movement on the Udhampur-Krimchi-Mansar road.
The protestors raised slogans against the Police Department for their failure to contain the rising theft cases.

The residents alleged that last night, around about 20 shops were burgled by the thieves between the areas falling on Dabrha Morh-Krimchi-Mansar road and goods worth several lakhs were stolen.
They said that in the past one month, many thefts had taken place but no action has been initiated by the Police Department. Police department has miserably failed to arrest the thieves, they added.
On getting information, DySP Headquarters Udhampur Rohit Chadgal along with SHO Udhampur Inspector Vijay Choudhary and other district officers rushed to the spot and assured the people of arresting the thieves in the shortest possible time.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the road.
