LEH, Feb 1: Despite of frequent approach, the Area Development Officer Zanskar has failed to redress the issues of the people of Zanskar.
In this regard, the people from the different villages of Zanskar today held protest under the leadership of President Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing Zanskar in collaboration with BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and Nambardars of different villages of Zanskar Sub Division.
The protestors were demanding separate district status for Zanskar, appointment of permanent technical operator for BSNL Zanskar, simplifying the defunct BSNL communication system, immediate visit of district administration/LAHDC to Zanskar to redress their issues, clearance of snow from the entire region of Zanskar or upto Sharlo Chadar throughout the winters.
All the shops, restaurants and hotels were closed for almost one and half hour and all the protestors were assembled at the main chowk Maniringmo and took out a peaceful protest march towards the office of the Area Development Officer Padum Zanskar.
After passing through the main market, the protestors reached to the office of Area Development Officer Zanskar and handed over the memorandum to the clerk as the incharge Area Development Officer Zanskar attained superannuation yesterday and new officer has not assumed the charge.
