PEEU warns Govt against harassing field staff

KATHUA, Dec 2: Provincial Electric Employees Union (PEEU) asked the Government to refrain from harassing and victimizing the field staff including meter readers.
Talking to reporters here today, president of the Union P C Sharma demanded regularization of daily wagers of district Kathua with creation of sufficient posts.
He said metre readers are facing harassment from Government, public as well as their representatives despite their best efforts to realize the revenue from customers and providing fault free service to the public. The Government was giving more and more target to them which is unbearable for the customers and public representatives.
This way the metre readers are unable to realize the extra target of revenue and the Government has started victimizing the field staff by issuing suspension orders for them and withholding their salaries.
The Union while condemning the Government action warned that it will not tolerate the same.
Mr Sharma asked Principle Secretary Power and MoS Power not to test the patience of the employees of PDD and in case the Government continues to harass the field staff the Union will be constrained to launch agitation.
He demanded technical grades for all matriculates workers with ITI, work as per designation, opening of new EM&RE Division at Basholi to reduce the burden of existing EM&RE Division Kathua.
Davinder Sharma, Shiv Charan Singh, Hardarshan Singh, Yashpal Raina and other leaders of the Union were present in the press conference.
