PDD casual employees protest, demand pending wages

JAMMU, Apr 19: All Jammu Province Casual/Need Based Workers’ Union, PDD, today held a protest in front of the office of Power Commissioner, PDD, Janipur, Jammu, demanding release of pending wages of workers.
Hundreds of casual labourers of PDD assembled outside the office of the Power Commissioner and raised slogans in support of their demands, urging the higher authorities of PDD to release their pending wages so that they can save their families from starvation.
Addressing the protesting workers, Mohd Gafoor Dar, State president, JKNTUF, stressed upon the authorities of PDD to release the pending ages of need based casual labourers without any further delay, otherwise agitation will be intensified.
Akhil Sharma, president, PDD Casual Labourer’s Union, while speaking on the occasion, said that about 3405 casual workers of PDD are suffering badly due to non-payment of wages. He also reiterated the demand of immediate implementation of SRO 520 and SRO 381 of PDD.
Other union leaders who addressed the gathering were Ashish Verma, Kabir, Bashir Ahmed, Sher Singh, Niaz, Anil Kumar, Gurmail Singh and Sham Lal.
