The association said that they want to bring it to the attention of the administration that the parent community is being extorted by the managements of private schools on various pretexts.
“The tuition fee which has been reduced to 70% by the High Courts of Rajasthan and Madras needs to be further reduced in J&K owing to the fact that the schools have remained shut for more than a year now along with all sorts of business and trade,” they said.
The association said that due to the non-implementation of RTE Act private schools are taking admission fee even after the orders issued by the concerned department.
“The parents who have been time and again complaining about the highhandedness of school managements are not being listened to. No action is being taken against such schools,” they said.
They demanded the implementations of RTE immediately implemented in J&K.
They alleged that various schools have hiked tuition fee and are demanding bus fee and annual charges as well.
They also said that online classes have been stopped to a lot of students whose’ parents have not been able to pay the school fee because of the devastating financial crunch.
“Assignments are not being given and parents have been told that their wards will not be allowed to appear in the exams if the fee is not paid,” they said.
They alleged that the parents have been threatened that their children will be expelled from the schools if the fee is not paid.
They said that most of the elite schools are not members of any of private school association therefore, they are doing whatever they want.
“They don’t accept the orders of the school association and they don’t accept the orders of the govt as well. Who controls them,” they asked.
They said that the fee has not been fixed to most of the schools of J&K.
“…they are charging and hiking fee as per their will. We demand the immediate appointment of FFC chairman as principal secretary has mentioned the FFC chairman appointment is almost complete,” they said.
