UDHAMPUR, May 5: Up in arms against frequent traffic jams and recently hike in toll rate at Ban Toll Plaza, Panthers Party activists held a strong protest demonstration at Jakhani, here today, under the leadership of former MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia.
Expressing deep anguish over regular traffic jam at Udhampur, Mankotia said that people of Udhampur feel tortured everyday due to this regular heavy vehicular chaos. “Main reason of this traffic jam is Jakhani naka, due to which thousands of trucks remain stranded in Udhampur for several days which create mess every day,” he explained adding that the t school going children , patients and employees suffered badly due to this traffic jam. He demands to shift the Jakhani naka.
Reiterating the demand to revise the toll rates at Ban Toll Plaza, Mankotia said that hike in toll is big burden for general public and it should be revised soon otherwise Panthers Party will continue its protest.
Mankotia also demanded revocation of the decision of traffic ban on highway on Wednesday and Sunday and said that the Government decision was dictatorial.
A number of Panthers activists and senior leaders of the party accompanied Mr Mankotia.
