Srinagar, Oct 7: A Panchayat Ghar was set on fire by unidentified persons at Pinglena in South Kashmir district of Pulwama tonight.
The roof and windows of Panchayat Ghar were completely damaged in the fire. However, fire was put off. Over one dozen Panchayat Ghars were set ablaze since last month.
In the meantime, security forces this morning launched an operation in six villages of Shopian district including Sindo Shirmal, Balpora, Ganowpora, Barthipora,Wathoo and Chakh. They were sealed off by security forces after information of militants’ movement in these villages. However, the operation was called off in the afternoon.
Security forces also launched a cordon-and-search operation in parts of Sopore following some gunshots near Seelu area of Sopore.
The gunshots were heard from an orchard near Zangir Mode in Seelu area. Soon after the incident, a joint team of SOG and Army cordoned off the Zangir Morh and New Colony Sopore. However, operation was later called off.
