SRINAGAR: Pakistani troops on Thursday violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked heavy shelling and firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) at Tanghdar sector in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Official sources said that Pakistani troops, violating the 2003 ceasefire, fired mortar shells at around 1860 hrs on Thursday, targeting forward posts and civilian areas in Tanghdar sector.
They said Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire was still going on when the reports last came in. However, sources said there was no report of any causality or damage to property from this side of LoC so far. (AGENCIES)
