Debating controversial resolution

Sir,
This is with reference to an article authored by  K.N.Pandita in DE dated 4th July 15.  Markandey  Katju has initiated a very lively and important debate.  The author has rightfully highlighted the reasons for delay in granting freedom to our country by Britishers. It is a fact that the delay was not due to reasons attributed to Imperialists but due to the demand for separate nation for Muslims by Muslim League which was opposed by Gandhiji. It was not for the first time that such a demand was made but its demand was made in 1940 by passing a resolution by the then All India Muslim League in Lahore and all the congress men knew it. The Gandhiji is no doubt revered by everyone and has the status of Father of Nation and will continue to be so but at the same time cannot escape the blame of the partition of India when he had vowed that the “partition only on my dead body”. I think that leaders of congress were more in hurry in accepting the partition than Muslim League for obvious reasons of grabbing power.
I feel historians have to conduct a research in the role of Pt. Nehru in the partition.  Recently our former President Dr. A PJ Abdul Kalam, at one of the functions, has rightly said that the history   should not be written by the rulers and people in power, because it gets distorted. This is what has happened to our ancient culture and history because the country was under foreign rule for centuries together. This is the time when we can expect that some historians may take the research work with regard to the role of Gandhiji , Pt. Nehru and other congress leaders at that time, in the partition of our nation. When Gandhiji was assassinated on 30th Jan., it was 5th assassination attempt on his life. Obviously doubts arise why security was not provided despite the threat perception.  There are some people who argue that Gandhiji refused to have security, but it was the responsibility of the Govt., to provide security, if not, at least some security persons in plain clothes could have been deployed, in and around the area, to ensure that no harm is done to Gandhiji, as he was the most important person and was the Father of Nation.
I am personally grateful to Dr. K.N.Pandita for such a lucid, enlightened and enriched article.
Yours etc…
