JAMMU, Mar 3: Pakistan army today again opened firing and shelling along the Line of Control in Poonch district in the early hours of this morning, drawing strong retaliation from the Indian troops.
“At about 3.30 am today, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Mankote and Mendhar sectors”, a Defence spokesperson said.
The Army retaliated befittingly, and the firing and shelling stopped around 5 am, he added.
Pakistan army has repeatedly been violating the ceasefire along the LoC in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
Some of the ceasefire violations were aimed at infiltrating the militants into Indian territory but the Army has thwarted all such bids.
