MENDHAR, Jan 13: The administration and the Rural Development Department have failed to divert the rain water of the Mendhar market despite repeated requests.
Traders of Mendhar market are irked over flowing of drain water on road in the town.
Local traders of the main market including Parveen Sawhney, Brijesh Sharma, Vikas Sawhney and others said that due to diversion in flow of water, the drain water is now flowing over road stretch and is also entering in their business establishments.
The people moving on foot are also facing lot of hardships, they added.
Prominent people of the town said that there was heavy rain this time resulting into water logging which damaged the goods of the shopkeepers.
The local residents added that the road stretch over which water is flowing heads to Mendhar main market, Jamia Masjid and Tehsil Complex. Hundreds of people move over it and everyone is facing problem, they stated.
Beopar Mandal President Mendhar Parveen Sawhney has said that water logging in the market has become the constant problem and a proper survey should be conducted to divert the rain water. He appealed to the District Administration to do the needful in this regard.
When contacted, SDM Mendhar Sahil Jandyal said that he will take up the matter with concerned authorities for redressal.
