Srinagar, May 26: J&K Bank while carrying its ‘health for all’ mission under its platinum jubilee initiatives conducted a free medical camp today in Northern border town Uri. The Bank has unveiled its plan to conduct such camps under corporate social responsibility across the State during its platinum jubilee year. Today’s camp at Uri was the fourth of the series of such camps held in association with SKIMS, Soura.
The camp was inaugurated jointly by R.K Singh, Brigade Commander, 12th Infantry Brigade and the Bank’s President Ab. Rauf Bhat in Sub District Hospital Uri. J&K Bank President Mohammad Syed Wani, Zonal Head, Kashmir (North), M.S Kaboo, senior doctors from SKIMS, Bank officials and senior citizens of the area were present at the inaugural function.
Despite heavy downpour, more than 500 patients from Uri and its adjoining border villages thronged the camp for getting free counseling and consultations from eminent SKIMS specialist doctors. The senior consultants from SKIMS, Soura included Dr Parvez Koul (General Medicine), Endocrinologist Dr Bashir Ahmad Laway, Gastroenterologist Dr. G N Yatoo, Cardiologists Dr Hilal & Dr Sultan, Gynecologist Dr Bashir Ahmad, Ophthalmologists Dr Waseem & Dr Ayaz and Pediatricians Dr Yunis & DrIkhlas.
Transworld Diagnostic Center Barbarshah and Abbot Labs conducted free clinical tests of the patients on the occasion. Free medicines were also made available to the patients.
Ab Rauf Bhat, Mohammad Sayed Presidents of the Bank, along with Zonal Head M.S Kaboo and other officials of the Bank personally monitored the arrangements and functioning of the day long camp.
Locals of the area have urged upon the Bank management to conduct such camps in future as well, “we are highly thankful to the J&K Bank for conducting a free medical camp in this remote area.We hope that Bank would continue with these gestures in future and bring super specialist doctors to this far flung area for the benefit of general public,” said a senior citizen of area.
