Out-door Basketball Court inaugurated at Bhaderwah Campus

BHADERWAH, June 4: Keeping in view the rural youths’ growing stature on the Basketball firmament and to give boost to the international games in Chenab Valley, a national level out-door court was inaugurated on Monday in Bhaderwah Campus of Jammu University.
Build in the sprawling Bhaderwah Campus in lap of the mammoth Ashapati glacier, first of its kind in Chenab Valley, the newly constructed court is aimed at to give fillip to game’s promotion.
The new facility surrounded with Cedar, Cherry and weeping willow trees, presents a pleasing sight of modernity in a natural setting was inaugurated by Prof GM Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus.
Bhaderwah Campus, which is the leading educational Institution of the region, off late has become the hub of Educational, Social, Cultural and Sports activities of Chenab Valley and the newly constructed Basketball court has added another feather to the Campus.
“Being far flung area, students of Chenab Valley always remained at dis-adventage and were having hardly any access to the kind of facilities students of the plains enjoy. To bridge this gap, we are continuously trying to build the infrastructure at our Campus and this Basketball court is perhaps first of its kind in Chenab Valley and will surely help the youth of this region as physical and mental health compliments each other and are imperative for overall growth of a student,”said Prof Bhat.
After formal inauguration of the court, a friendly match between English and Computer Sciences students and faculty was also played, which was won by the English Department.
Prominent among those who were present during the inaugural function include, Dr Kuljit Singh Academic Coordinator, Bablu Sharma Programmer MCA, Ravees Ahmed Sports officer, Dr Subash Chander, Dr Abid Sarwar and Yasir.
