Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Day celebrated at IGGDC

JAMMU, Feb 13: The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery headed by Prof Parveen Lone celebrated National Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Day today in Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu.
On the occasion, a lecture regarding awareness of services provided by Oral and Maxillofacial unit was delivered by Prof Parveen Lone.
Dr Roopav Nagotra, Dr Varun Salgotra, Dr Sanjay and Dr Israr, House surgeons, beside other staff members participated in the function.
On the occasion, dental examination and treatment of female students of ‘Drishti Chatrawas’ Pounichak were done in the Department. Samples of dental pastes and brushes were distributed among the students. Health talks on importance of oral hygiene were delivered. A poster making competition was held for dental graduates and a seminar on OMFS Day was organized. Besides, banners and posters were displayed for public awareness to prevent facial injuries as incidence of facial injuries in this region is on rise.
The Day is celebrated annually on February 13 to increase the visibility, presence, awareness among general masses about the services provided by IGGDC Jammu. The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at IGGDC Jammu deals with facial Trauma, deformities of face, pathologies of jaws, TMJ problems etc in addition to minor oral surgical procedures.
IGGDC is delivering emergency services for victims of maxillofacial trauma round the clock, besides performing routine minor and major oral surgical procedure in local anesthesia on OPD basis and general anesthesia for indoor patients.
