JAMMU, Feb 11: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today said that Government has put in place all necessary arrangements in hospitals of the State to detect and treat swine flu.
In this regard, separate OPDs have been set up at all District Hospitals, besides at Railway Station Jammu, airports at Srinagar and Jammu and Lakhanpur. Besides, the concerned medical teams have been strictly instructed to keep close vigil on this infectious disease in their jurisdictions.
This was informed by the Minister at the opening of OPD unit of swine flu treatment at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
Interacting with the media persons, the Minister said that there is no any alarming position of this ailment in the State. He, however, said that 2 swine flu cases (HINI) were detected in Kashmir valley and are being treated by the expert doctors in SKIMS.
The Minister said that suspected cases of swine flu have also been detected in Jammu and HINI samples of these cases were sent to New Delhi for diagnosis. He said the test report of one case was received from the concerned quarters as negative while the report of second case is awaited.
He said that concerned Directors of Health Department have been directed to intensify the services of field staff for carrying out mass awareness among the people especially residing in rural areas about preventive measures of swine flu.
The Minister also apprised that situation, in this regard, is being monitored on daily basis at secretariat and directorate level.
Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Madhu Khullar, apprised the Minister of the arrangements being made to tackle such eventuality in hospitals of Jammu Division. She said that separate indoor facilities have also been also kept available in hospitals for the purpose.
