Online training program organized for registration on GeM portal

JAMMU, Oct 19: A webinar cum training programme was organized by Industries & Commerce Department Jammu in collaboration with the GeM, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, for registration on GeM portal.
The training programme was organized on the directions of Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner/Secretary, Industries & Commerce Jammu and overall supervision of Anoo Malhotra, Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu by General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Jammu, Subah Mehta.
The DIC Jammu highlighted the advantages of GeM registration and apprised the participants that it is now mandatory for Government departments to make all purchases through GeM platform. She said that to sell products to Government Departments throughout the country, it is necessity for MSME Sector to get themselves registered on GeM portal.
“The portal is transparent and payments shall be made to sellers in stipulated time period. Sellers can join in any bidding all over the country on competitive rates and can explore the market on PAN India,” she said and emphasized the Industrial Associations to come forward and to motivate their associate MSME members to join GeM.
Besides, Deepesh Gehlot (Director GeM) and Kush Tyagi (expert on GeM) joined from Chandigarh through webmail to impart training to the participants for getting registration on the GeM portal. The participants were also made aware regarding benefits of GeM, process of getting themselves registered and further steps needed to be taken for selling their end products and services.
The webinar was joined by more than 200 participants through online mode at Udyog Bhawan. The societies/ entrepreneurs from Handloom and Handicraft Departments also attended the programme. Field Officers of DIC Jammu also attended the programme.
Neeraj Sharma and Surinder Gupta from State Taxes Department guided the entrepreneurs about the returns and reimbursement process for GST and Adarsh Anand from J&K Bank Limited delivered a lecture on NPA and other services of Banks which are for the benefits of unit holders.
