JAMMU, Apr 15: A male pedestrian injured in a road accident at Toph Sherkhanian area of city outskirts late last night, succumbed to his injuries in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, while ten persons were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a pedestrian identified as Shamsher Lal (40) son of Bishamber Lal, a resident of Lower Shiv Nagar (Jammu) was hit by an unknown vehicle late last night near Pencil Factory in Toph Sherkhanian area. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning. After conducting postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. A case has already been registered at concerned police station and investigations started.
A rashly driven bus bearing registration number JK02AT-5415 hit an auto, a Maruti car and then a bicycle at Jeevan Nagar near Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, about 7.30 this morning.
In the mishap, six children of Shiksha Niketan School identified as Amandeep Singh (Class 3rd), Krishna (Class 4th), Saksham (Class 2nd), Jaslin Kour (Class 7th), Konika Sharma (Class 10th) and Simranjeet Kour (Class 7th), received serious injuries.
On getting reports of the accident, a police team from police station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Kulbir Singh Choudhary, reached the spot and shifted the injured children to GMCH, Jammu, where the condition of all the injured was stated to be stable till the last reports came in.
A case FIR No 64/2015 U/S 279/337 RPC has been registered and investigations started. The police has seized all the three vehicles involved in the accident and arrested the bus driver, who has been identified as Inder Singh son of Bhagat Singh, a resident of Rajouri (at present near Digiana Ashram).
In Durga Nagar area of city outskirts, a man identified as Kirti Gupta (35) son of Govind Ram, a resident of Durga Nagar, received serious injuries when he fell from a moving min-bus. He was shifted to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
In another accident, an auto was hit by an unknown vehicle at Nagbani. In the mishap, the two occupants of the auto identified as Jatinder Singh (26) son of Parshotam Singh, a resident of Jourian and Satpal (50) son of Dewan Chand, a resident of Gole Gujral (Talab Tillo), received injuries. They were also shifted to GMCH. The police has registered a case in this regard.
