NEW DELHI: As the tradition of ‘sahayaks’ came into sharp focus after one more jawan resorted to social media by posting a complaint video, the Army today categorically denied that the jawan was performing duties as a buddy.
The Army issued a detailed statement about the development to put a rest speculation that Sepoy Sindhav Jogidas Lakhubhai, who uploaded the video and disregarded warnings against going to the social media to air grievances, was a sahayak.
“It must be noted that the individual has never been employed as ‘Buddy’ of any officer or Junior Commissioned Officer nor has he ever been asked to perform such a duty. His allegations related to this and ill-treatment of jawans by superiors, are false and baseless,” said the statement.
Sepoy Sindhav is employed in Army Medical Corps in the trade of ‘Housekeeper’. He has rendered nearly three years of service in the Army.
According to investigations carried out by the Army while on his initial posting at Military Hospital (MH) Ranikhet, Sepoy Sindhav was late in rejoining duties after availing the leave for 2015. He was awarded Pay Fine for unauthorised absence from duty.
The Sepoy applied for premature release from the Army for which his application was duly processed. The AMC Records, considering his limited service, advised counseling of the individual before taking the final decision. (AGENCIES)
