One dies, 10 children test +ve in Kashmir

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Dec 10: One persons died of COVID-19 and 129 tested positive in Kashmir division today while 44 cases were reported from Jammu division and 24 in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Among 44 cases in Jammu region, 25 were recorded in Jammu district, six in Reasi, five Doda, three Poonch, two Samba and one each in Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua districts. Kishtwar and Ramban districts didn’t report any new cases.
As against 44 fresh cases, 112 recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases in Jammu region to 422.
Among 24 cases reported in the UT of Ladakh, 23 were registered in Leh district and one in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 237 active positive cases including 221 in Leh and 16 in Kargil.
Meawhile, Kashmir today reported 129 fresh cases of COVID-19 while one person who was suffering from the infection succumbed taking the death toll in J&K to 4,490.
Those tested positive include 10 children, aged below 7 years of Sopore.
An official said that today out of ten persons tested positive for Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test, seven are minors, aged below seven years.
He said that yesterday, three children below one year age were tested positive for Covid-19 through RAT, adding that their families have tested negative for Covid-19 through RAT. However, their samples for RT-PCR have not been received yet.
He said that all the infected children are symptomatic and among them, one has pneumonia, who was admitted at SDH Sopore.
The official added it seems that these children have contracted the virus at a private pediatric clinic where they have been visiting for treatment.
He said that tomorrow, they will conduct random sampling of persons working at private clinics in the area and there are chances that they might trace the virus spreader.
Those who tested positive include 59 from Srinagar, 17 from Baramulla,12 from Budgam, 11 from Pulwama, 04 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 8 from Bandipora, 13 from Ganderbal and 3 from Kulgam.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 213,003 including 209,506 recoveries and 2,301 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,618 including 1,196 from Kashmir division.
With 250 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 332,455 which is 98.20 percent of the total cases.
