SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked the Revenue Department for the formulation of special girdawari indicating the loss to the crops due to recent hailstorm in the Valley and other parts of the State.
Omar Abdullah said that a comprehensive and detailed report should be formulated so that compensation process would be put on fast track.
Talking to a deputation of farmers of Khansahib and other areas who called on him here in the Awami Mulaqat on Friday, the Chief Minister said that the loss to the crops due to the hailstorm would be assessed for compensation to the affected farmers.
The Chief Minister said that development of agriculture and allied sectors are receiving priority attention to ameliorate the lot of people associated with these economically important sectors.
While agriculture has been almost kept out of the tax regime, special packages for increasing per hectare production and productivity have been provided to the farmers, horticulturists, animal rearers and entrepreneurs investing in these sectors.
As many as 49 deputations and scores of individuals met Chief Minister in today’s public Mulaqat and apprised him about various matters of urgent public importance.
A deputation from Singhpora, Pahalgam requested the Chief Minister for construction of Singhpora-Manzgam road while the deputation from Anantnag stressed on construction of flyover from Khanabal to Anantnag. It also requested for inauguration of Sub-District Hospital, Anantnag.
The Chief Minister told the deputations that the DPRs for Singhpora-Manzgam road and Khanabal flyover would be prepared by the concerned agencies for arranging funds. He said District Hospital Anantnag would be made functional soon.
A deputation of farmers from Ganderbal discussed the matters pertaining to the new Ganderbal hydel project, while deputation of Fishermen Cooperative Society, Habak demanded the construction of fish pond.
A delegation from KMD Association brought to the notice of Chief Minister, problems pertaining to the welfare of the members of KMD Association. The students sponsored under PMSSS apprised the Chief Minister of their difficulties in receiving the scholarships. The deputation of degree holders of electronics and communications requested the Chief Minister for issuance of notification so that they could appear in PSC examination.
A deputation of Flour Mill Owners Association and a deputation of Fruit Growers Association also brought issues concerning from to the notice of the Chief Minister.
Various delegations from Lolab, Tangmarg, Beerwah, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Qaimoh, Budgam, Lar, Bemina, Khansahib, Mujgund during the meeting with Chief Minister apprised him regarding various development needs in their respective areas.
A deputation from Qoimoh lead by MLC Abdul Majid requested the Chief Minister for de-notifying Qoimoh as a town.
The Chief Minister gave patient hearing to the deputations and the individuals and referred their cases to the concerned quarters for early action. He disposed of many cases of urgent public importance on the spot.
The Advisor to the Chief Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon was also present in the Awami Mulaqat.
